Asthma and Smoking

Asthma is a lung disease which is not only traumatic but can lead to other respiratory diseases. If you have asthma, smoking is deadly. Tobacco smoke irritates your lung and air passages permanently damaging the fine, delicate bronchial tubes. Smoking increases your chances of frequent asthma attack. Asthma and smoking do not go together.

Even if you do not smoke but are a victim of passive smoking, it can act as a trigger to onset an asthma attack for you. Let your friends and family know about your medical condition such that you are not exposed to passive smoking when they are around. For asthmatic children who are exposed to smoke can increase their chances of continuing medication and maybe continue having asthma even when they grow up.

Mothers who smoke during pregnancy increase the chances of babies born with infant asthma. Tobacco smoke leads to decreased lung function increase in the medication due to smoke exposure either active or passive. Weak immune system is susceptible to innumerous infections and more absence from normal activities. Even people who smoke and are not asthmatic have greater chances of acquiring this disease if they smoke or are exposed to smoking at work or home. It is similar for kids whose parents smoke at home.

So, the best preventive measure that can save you hours of pain and discomfort is to give up smoking or remain away from passive smoke.
