When it comes to these medications they help prevent the frequency of having an attack. They can also help minimize the severity of the attack as well. But it does takes weeks to get full results of the medications. There are four categories of long term control medications they are inhalers, oral, bronchodilators and oral leukotriene modifiers. Each one has a specific use and each one is prescribe for the difference in severity of asthma attacks.
